✨️My Journey Into Wax Melts: From Dark Days to a Brightly Scented Future✨️

Hi, I’m Michelle — mum of three lively boys and proudly based in the seaside town of Rhyl in North Wales, UK.
My partner in crime lives in Yorkshire ❤️ love him! 😘

Since high school, I’ve lived with severe body dysmorphic disorder, which means I don't like myself (despise myself in my case, you can look it up if you want to understand it better) and social anxiety can hit hard in unfamiliar places or around unfamiliar people. This is why you won't get a normal picture of me without a filter or a silly face 🤣
Life hasn’t always been gentle, and when I lost my mum in 2017 after a short illness, everything changed for me. I won’t go into all the details, but starting this business became part of my healing — my success story, my way of walking out of the darkest of  places into something brighter.

I’m still figuring out who I am now, but what I do know is this: I want to build something that lasts. Something my boys can look at one day and proudly say, “Mum built that.”

I’m passionate, driven, a little bit funny (so I’m told!) and the one who always puts others first. And for years, I’ve been obsessed with candles and wax melts. I’ve got warmers in almost every room — walking through my home is like wandering through a scented adventure, each room with its own little personality. Fresh linen scents are my absolute weakness.

For the longest time, I thought shop-bought melts were “as good as it gets.” Then one day, I picked up some handmade ones from a local marketplace… and honestly, it was life-changing. The scent was stronger, lasted longer, and filled my home in a way the supermarket ones never could. That was the moment I realised: I think I’ve fallen in love.

Curious (and slightly overconfident), I did a bit of research and ordered one of those “make your own wax melts” kits. Best decision ever. I picked it up quickly, my house smelled like heaven, and I was having the time of my life experimenting.

Friends and family — who all buy melts anyway — started sniffing them out (literally) and kept asking for more. And more. And different scents. And then more again. That’s when I realised: maybe I’m onto something here.

Being the responsible adult I occasionally am, I did my research on UK safety regulations, CLP requirements, and all the legal bits no one tells you about. Once everything was properly in place, I started gifting — and then selling — my melts alongside the other handmade items in my little shop. And they took off.

Before long, I made the decision to focus fully on scents. Not only because it’s what I adore, but because it’s what my customers kept returning for. And with that, my scent shop was born — the only dedicated one in our town.

What makes my business unique isn’t just that it’s a full scent shop. It’s that I make everything right there in the shop! Customers can come in, watch their melts being poured, choose their colours, have a chat, grab a coffee, and — of course — sniff to their heart’s content.

Because honestly… who doesn’t love being surrounded by gorgeous smells all day long?
Nothing sticks in your memory quite like a scent.

And that, in all its colourful, emotional, slightly chaotic glory, is how I fell into the world of wax melts.

This is me, Michelle x

I’m excited about where my journey will take me.
